In 2014 the FIA world council presented a new concept for junior drivers. Based on identical rules and regulations the series is run in many different countries as a primary stage into Formula 1. The cars are equipped with turbo charged engines from Abarth and a chassis provided by the Italian manufacturer Tatuus. Pirelli, the well-known premium tire manufacturer from Italy, who also supplies the Formula 1 delivers the tires.
Since many years, the ADAC Formula Junior series have been a starting point for many stars in motorsport. In the past Formula 1 pilots such as the four times world champion Sebastian Vettel, Nico Hülkenberg, Ralf Schumacher or Nico Rosberg, as well as DTM-stars such as Martin Tomcyk, Pascal Wehrlein or Timo Glock started their successful careers in ADAC junior series.
With more than 40 drivers from over 15 nations the ADAC Formula 4 series is truly one of the most challenging junior race series in the world. In 24 races during 8 racing weekends the pilots fight for victory and championship points.
A co-operation with the German sports TV channel Sport1 provides a vast media coverage. Every race will be broadcasted live on Free-TV and draws more than half a million of viewers.
